Neurodiversity affirming 3 hour face to face interactive session on language development for parents of pre-school and primary aged children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) living in Bristol. Hosted by Bristol Parent Carers Forum.

Topics included:

  • Defining speech vs language (comprehension/expression) vs social communication

  • Identifying your child’s strengths and where you feel they need support

  • Basic principles of child-led language teaching

  • Specific strategies that parents can use at home with a focus on expanding vocabulary and narrative (telling you about what has happened)
